NHL DFS, 4/14/2025

The bad news is we have typically small contests for this time of year for NHL DFS. The good news is there is still $5,000 up top in the single entry and MME flagship on DraftKings, which is nothing to thumb our nose at. I had spent some time building lineups for MME in the past several videos and articles, so I thought it would be a good exercise to switch back to single entry GPPs tonight. When I ran early builds in SaberSim for the single entry and 3-max tournaments on DraftKings, it was a three horse race for top stacks in the contest sims.

The team I got to the most, and it wasn’t even close, is the Florida Panthers. SaberSim really wants me to play them! I won’t complain about that. The Panthers are never too highly owned and usually offer a solid leverage spot. Their scoring is a bit distributed so you don’t get as much concentration as you do from other teams. But the pricing and ownership is right for this slate. I’m getting to five mans and some six man Panthers onslaughts with the power play stack. Often times I’m getting them paired with Sergei Bobrovsky in net, as well. These guys usually cost more, but you can pretty easily fit them with some room to spare on the rest of your lineup.

After Florida, I’m getting to Vancouver and Montreal at an equal clip. We’ve talked about the Habs in the past. They’re a middling team, but they have decently concentrated scoring into their top line. Plus, that top line is fully correlated on their power play. It’s a different case for Vancouver, but they also come at the right price in a great spot against the San Jose Sharks. It’s easy enough to fit them in, and while you’ll have to be careful about correlation and how you stack them, you know there could be lots of scoring in against San Jose.

Basically, I’ll either know where I stand early on with the Habs and Florida going off in the early game, or holding out hope for one of the two late night hammers to make my night. Good luck!
