People have been asking a lot about hand building lineups, so I thought I would take today to use Sheets’ projections to do just that. Normally, I utilize SaberSim to build lineups whether they’re for MME or single entry tournaments. But it is always good to get reps in hand building, and it does provide a great idea of what the slate might look like.

If you take a look at Sheets’ projections, there isn’t a ton of “clumping” of the top plays. Or in other words, the best value plays in his metric are all mostly from unique teams. The only teams that stand out with a bit more representation in the top plays are Tampa, Buffalo, and New Jersey. I don’t think its going too far out on a limb to say that Tampa stacks make for strong plays tonight at home against the Flyers. The problem is that the Lightning are priced like it, too. It’s nearly impossible to play their full five-man power play, and if you want to get in guys like Kucherov and Guentzel, you probably need to use Hedman at $5,900. They all look great, but that combo should get a healthy amount of ownership.

The next best spot for the money looks to be New Jersey. The Devils are in a prime scoring spot against Columbus, and while they’ll be owned, you don’t have to pay the same kind of price you would on Tampa. New Jersey is still without Jack Hughes, so you can easily get in their top guys with some room to spare. Jesper Bratt is currently projecting as the top value in Sheets’ metric, followed by Timo Meier, and Nico Hischier. The latter two are correlated on EV1 and all three have power play correlation. You can throw in Luke Hughes and Dawson Mercer to get full Jersey power play one stacks with some money to spare. They are going to be owned, but the stack does make a lot of sense on tonight’s slate.

The Buffalo Sabres are the last team that stands out, but they also suffer from some pricing and combinatorial ownership issues. Tage Thompson and Rasmus Dahlin look like strong plays in Sheets’ value metric, and both are together in the top ten of the slate. However, there won’t be too many Buffalo stacks that leave these guys out. The best way to go about playing Buffalo would be to tag their linemates or power play mates to get a little different by addition. Keep in mind, Buffalo doesn’t have as high a total as Tampa or Jersey, and Boston is solid defensively (their opponent), but the Sabres should also come in at far less overall ownership, besides perhaps Tage and Dahlin. That’s especially the case for Dahlin who is currently projected for 22% ownership by Sheets, compared to just 9% on Tage Thomspson.

If I were hand building, these are the three spots I would start with on tonight’s slate, especially for single entry and/or smaller field GPPs on DraftKings. Good luck!
