The unbalanced NHL schedule is setting us up for a huge 14-game slate today and single gamer tomorrow. It’s hard to think through fourteen games, and I think the best way to go about things is to see where SaberSim is turning. Like most slates this size, SS has a strong preference for onslaught stacks, which is already different from the way a lot of the field plays.
The stack du jour in the early part of the day (i.e. before ownership and projections tighten up closer to post) is the New York Rangers. The Rangers are coming up especially high in ROI on DraftKings. They make sense given their middle-range total and low ownership and price. You can easily stack up New York tonight against Toronto, who are on a back-to-back. The Rangers come up a little bit less on FanDuel, but they are still standing out as a significant part of my lineup portfolio.
Following the Rangers, the Dallas Stars are coming up in about 25-30% of my lineups on DraftKings and a little less on FD again. The Stars are always tough to stack up because they give equal ice time to most of their lines. That said, the spot makes sense for them and if you get some coalescing around the scoring the Stars will really stand out for their prices and ownership.
Now, on the other side of the Rangers game, Toronto is getting overlooked on FanDuel. They come up as the second highest stack in my portfolio on FD when running lineups this afternoon. It’s a little scary to stack a team on the back-to-back, but they have around a three goal total and their scoring can easily concentrate around their top players. Auston Matthews totally broke the slate a couple games ago, and he and guys like Nylander and Marner can always do it again.
Good luck on this massive 14-gamer!
