NHL DFS Strategy 4/15/2025

It’s three days till the end of the season and the last time in the regular season that we’ll have a large NHL DFS slate to parse through. Tonight’s slate is ten games, which means we definitely want to veer toward highly correlated stacks given how likely there is to be an outlier team performance. When I build for slate’s like this, I tend to use only 4/3, 5/2, and 6-man onslaught stacks for my play-by-play sims in SaberSim. That said, I think you’re poised to play only the five-man and above stacks, and frankly, SS seems to prefer these from an ROI perspective, as well.

The team that I got to the most on DraftKings was the Tampa Bay Lightning. Tampa has a tough matchup against Florida tonight, but they still have a 3.3 total and will have plenty of opportunities to score. That’s especially the case if hey get on the power play, where the Lightning have one of the top units in the league. In fact, they may be right up there or behind the Edmonton Oilers as the best or second best PP unit. You can get the full lightning stack with a bit of room to spare. SaberSim also likes to correlate them with Vasilesvky, who is one of the better goalies in the league coming at the right price because Tampa isn’t a huge favorite.

Behind Tampa, I got to a lot of St. Louis on SaberSim. The Blues have pretty concentrated scoring and they’re a cheap enough stack for their matchup tonight against the Utah Hockey Club. They’re total at home is solid and you’ll get decent leverage, despite not having to worry too much about ownership on such a big slate. I would limit my exposure to something more reasonable in MME, but I think the Blues make for a fine stacking option if you’re playing single entry tournaments on DraftKings.

Over on FanDuel, SaberSim got me on two teams for my main four stacks and a third as my complementary pieces. My most played stacks in my portfolio on FD were the Ottawa Senators and the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Sens’ have one of the best matchups against a weak Chicago team, giving them an inflated implied team total of 3.7 goals. The Leafs are in a similar spot against Buffalo. The Sabres are definitely better than the Blackhawks, but they’ve been known to give up some high scoring outlier games, so I love having Toronto in my portfolio. For complementary pieces, SaberSim got me on a whole lot of Blue Jackets.

Keep running your process right up to lock since things are always subject to change as the fantasy point and ownership projections get tighter throughout the day and any news comes in. It’s late in the season, so news shenanigans are a little more common. And with that, good luck and LFG!
