We’ve got another four-game NHL playoff DFS slate tonight. The contest sizing is down from last night, but the main GPP still has $10,000 up top on DraftKings. The field has about 1700 entries, so SaberSim is really pushing me onto the contrarian stacks. That’s hardly a surprise given what we know about the importance of leverage, at least in SaberSim’s eyes! That said, I think most folks know how important leverage/ownership is on slate’s like this and in contests as big as the flagship.
The stack I’ve gotten to the most on SaberSim in my early builds is the Ottawa Senators. They’re underdogs tonight in Toronto against the Maple Leafs. But we’ve seen the Leafs have some playoff letdowns in the past and could very well be in the midst of a letdown again this year. The Senators correlate nicely and the price is right. They have a roughly 2.5 goal implied total so they’re bound to be low-owned. The Ottawa guys I’m getting to the most are Tkachuk, Stutzle, and Jake Sanderson. That shouldn’t be a surprise since all of them are the top guys, especially on the Senators’ power play.
After Ottawa, I’m seeing the Minnesota Wild show up as the next highest team stack in my build. The Wild are a bit scary in a really tough road playoff matchup against the Las Vegas Golden Knights, but anything can happen in DFS. Despite their 2.3 implied goal total, the Wild are still higher projected than New Jersey, so they won’t be the lowest projected team tonight. Surprisingly, I’m getting to a slightly bit more of Matt Boldy and Joel Eriksson-Ek than I am too Kaprizov. That’s just a price and ownership thing. Finally, Gustavson is my second highest owned goalie after Jacob Markstrom from the aforementioned Devils.
My third highest owned stack are the Tampa Bay Lightning. They have a very difficult matchup against a tough Florida defense. However, I’m still pretty comfortable playing the Lightning here. They’ve got the name value to be certain, and they have one of the best power plays in the league, if not the absolute best. If the Lightning get a few penalties the stack can really go off. My highest owned Tampa players are Kucherov and Hedman, but I’m also getting to a whole lot of Andre Vasilevsky in net.
To summarize, my three highest owned stack for the lottery GPP on DraftKings are Ottawa, Minnesota, and the Tampa Bay Lightning. That’s it for an early look, and all of this is subject to change as we get closer to post. Good luck with these contrarian leverage stacks on tonight’s slate!
